HOT AND COLD FORGING

In order to obtain special high quality machining, besides a fine and small diameter machining lathe, LLS TITANIUM also utilises hot and cold forging.

Hot forging implies two advantages in terms of:

- Resistance. Hot forging maintains the longitudinal continuity unaltered, even in the critical area of passage between the head and the shank. I.e. the raw material is modelled without producing the cuttings contemplated in the conventional turning works. The absence of cut fibres confers greater resistance to the product and limits problems related to the detachment between the head and the shank which may occur in turned products when subjected to excessive strain.

- Saving raw material and optimising costs. Hot forging implies the absence of production of chips and thus considerable saving in terms of raw material hence leading to a positive impact on the price of the finished product which is lower.
